A selection of projects I worked on at Samtrans/Nobina.

A new web page

Due to new requirements, the client needed to find a way to adapt the content of the home page of the booking system based on new user preferences. The purpose of the new web page was to gather functions based on new user preferences on one single page, making it a user-centered landing page, and to set a responsive and user centered framework for the upcoming version of the booking system.

To meet new contract criteria, the customer needed to adapt the existing product to support delivered features. The challenge was to design a solution that would help users navigate to authorized features while not impacting other pages in the booking system.

There were several challenges in the project. Defining the real need turned out to be a bigger challenge than I had anticipated. Since the booking system also needed improvements to the navigation and breadcrumbs, I started by visualising the connection between the new user permissions and the various permission-driven features and pages.

I conducted interviews with internal and external users as well as the product owner and developers to identify needs, requirements and the informations structure of a new home page. In parallel, I sketched out three possible design solutions based on responsiveness and accessibility and in close dialogue with the developers and the product owner. The three solutions were aimed at a gradual implementation of the changes over time on the home page from a cost-effective perspective.

After several iterations with the product team, I presented a solution that could be developed using existing technology and that met the criteria for responsiveness.
